Canada Geese: Humane Wildlife Management Methods
Tuesday June 5, 7:30pm United Methodist Church, 1 East Broad St. Westfield NJ

The Union County Peace Council is sponsoring an educational program, Canada Geese: Humane Wildlife Management Methods. This multi-media presentation will be at the United Methodist Church, 1 East Broad St. Westfield NJ on Tuesday June 5 at 7:30 PM.

With both increasing human and wildlife populations in the state of New Jersey coming into conflict,
there is a growing demand for solutions. The problem with the Canada Geese population is an
aesthetic one, along with claims that their waste posts public health risks. Currently there are hunts, mass-gassings, and a proposed slaughter to decrease their populations.

The Union County Peace Council has gathered knoweldgeable individuals and organizations that propose less expensive, humane courses of action, producing more long-term results. Some are actions the ordinary citizen can take such as not feeding the geese. Some plans can
be utilized by private corporations, such as the use of Border collies to chase the geese away.
Some courses of action can be pursued by local governments such as decoys in public parks, and addling the eggs during nesting season.

All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
